These rotations are subject to change depending on availability of posts. All trainees will have 12-18 months at the Bristol Royal Infirmary in senior years.

Information regarding each Trust/Hospital on training programme

Each year, there are 4 Diabetes and Endocrinology training days, 2 Southwest Endocrine training days (newly established and joint with Peninsular deanery) and General Medicine training days in addition to each Trust’s educational programme of Grand Rounds, journal club, radiology and specialty meetings. A wide variety of local courses such as ALS, Teaching and Management are available (please see website for Severn Postgraduate Medical Education).

Bristol Royal Infirmary, University Hospitals Bristol Trust

General diabetes and endocrine clinics

Joint diabetes foot, insulin pump, cystic fibrosis diabetes, antenatal, joint diabetes renal, joint pituitary, thyroid eye disease, joint adolescent endocrinology, joint adolescent thyroid, endocrine late effects of childhood cancer and specialist transgender clinics. Supra-regional MDT for neuroendocrine tumour management.

Opportunity to sit in on diabetes retinopathy, paediatric diabetes and endocrine, lipid, osteoporosis and reproductive endocrinology clinics.

General medical and endocrine ward and on-call.

Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals, North Bristol Trust

2 posts and I lecturer between Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals. 3 NHS consultants and 1 Professor.

Young persons/transitional diabetes, joint diabetes foot, obesity, insulin pump, joint thyroid, antenatal clinics.

Opportunity to sit in on renal, lipid, pancreatic transplant, paediatric diabetes clinics.

General Medical ward and on-call. Pituitary surgery at Frenchay.

Opportunity to sit in on renal, pancreatic transplant, young person's endocrine clinic, thyroid eye clinic, fertility and paediatric diabetes clinics.

General Medical wards covering inpatient renal disease as well as diabetes and on-call.
