Information about the specialty

Geriatric Medicine in Severn offers excellent training opportunities with all sub-speciality interests represented.

The training posts in the region are spread across 9 hospitals (Bristol Royal Infirmary, Southmead, Weston, Bath,  Swindon, Taunton, Yeovil, Cheltenham, Gloucester). The training rotation consists of a 4 year programme (with effect Aug 2021) across these sites with opportunities for Out of Programme Experience either as Clinical Fellowships or in a period of Research.

As an area to live and work the South West has much to offer. An exciting period of regeneration has been taking place in Bristol. There is a regency town of Cheltenham and the City of Bath is a World Heritage site. Devon and Cornwall are within a couple of hours’ drive and the Welsh coast and mountains are similarly easily reached for those with a passion for the outdoors.
