Overview of Research in Severn Postgraduate Medical Education
In Severn's region the academic centres for rheumatology are the RNHRD, Bath and UHBFT, Bristol, although much research is also done at North Bristol Trust! There are strong links with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. In addition there are ongoing collaborations with other hospital departments including orthopaedics, gastroenterology, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
If you want to do a spell of research, whether as a small project during your rotation, or taking three years out to do a full-time PhD, the first point of call should be your educational supervisor. Also discussing your ideas with as many consultants as possible, to see if any have a research project available can be very helpful.
