A Career in Cardiology

Category: Medicine - Other

Date: October 24th 2014

Location: Royal College of Physicians, London

This comprehensive one-day symposium is now in its 5th consecutive year. It is aimed at all those junior-and middle-grade doctors who are either considering or are committed to a Career in Cardiology; in particular all Foundation Trainees, Core Medical Trainees, clinical and research fellows in Cardiology, and LAT SpRs who will be applying for vacant ST3 Cardiology posts in 2015.

Cardiology is a traditionally highly competitive specialty, where demand for training posts far exceeds supply. Prospective candidates, therefore, need to be extremely dedicated and tick the 'right' boxes to be shortlisted for an ST3 interview and prepare appropriately thereafter to optimise their chances of success.

An expert faculty of UK Cardiology opinion leaders alongside current Specialist Registrars will guide you through the ST3 selection process. There will be lectures on CV preparation; the benefits of postgraduate research and a thorough assessment of pre-recorded mock interviews to equip delegates with the skills necessary to be successful when they encounter this career hurdle for the first time.

For those not completely sure that Cardiology is their ultimate career choice there will also be an entire session devoted to exploring the many sub-specialty pathways available to you along with talks on the fundamental roles played by the British Cardiovascular Society and the British Heart Foundation.
